Ercolano is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world together with Pompeii and Oplontis, constituting one of the most fascinating examples of town planning in history. The site of Herculaneum is visited on average by 400,000 tourists each year, along with the ruins of Pompeii and Oplontis, has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
